Capers, a perennial drought hardy plant producing pretty 5cm white, purple stamen flowers. The small unopened flowers bud of the caper bush make for the perfect seasoning and the immature leaves at the end of the stem can be eaten as a cooked vegetable, fresh or picked. Buds used widely for the distinctive mustard and black pepper like flavours and aromas in European, African and Indian cuisine.
