Acer palmatum dissectum 'Atropurpureum'

A weeping Japanese maple with distinctive dark purplish foliage and an excellent weeping form. Foliage is a rich burgundy-purple in colour, incredibly vivid in spring but fading and taking on a slight green tone as summer nears. Autumn sees the return of the spectacular purple colour before taking on a delightful reddish shade. Growth habit is compact and dome-shaped, with spectacular pendulous branches giving the tree its iconic weeping appearance. This tree is at its best when planted in a sheltered position, making it a wonderful addition to any garden as a feature tree or as an excellent foliage contrast.
