Nerium oleander Red 15cm

Nerium oleander 'Red' is an evergreen shrub highly regarded for its large, loose summertime clusters of red, five-petaled, funnel-shaped flowers. It sports long and slender dark green leaves, which creates the perfect backdrop for its floral displays to stand out. This woody Mediterranean shrub is ideal for warm, waterwise gardens - its origins make it highly tolerant of periods of drought and seasonal rains. 

Until established, we recommend this shrub is sheltered from the hottest sun and watered more regularly. It performs best in well-drained soils and benefits from the occasional prune after flowering, but requires very little maintenance otherwise. Can be pruned to shape and size if desired.

Toxic if consumed - not recommended for gardens with small children or pets (or overly curious gardeners). Do not burn cuttings. Consider plants like Callistemon 'Western Glory' or Grevillea 'Cherry Moon' as alternative red-flowering shrubs for gardens where unsupervised ingestion is a consideration.
