Nandina domestica 'Moon Bay' – 20cm

A compact, evergreen shrub admired for its year-round colour and finely textured foliage. 'Moon Bay' produces vibrant new growth in shades of lime and bronze, maturing to green before transforming into brilliant red tones through autumn and winter. Foliage colour intensifies through winter and when grown in nutrient-depleted soils, adding colour to the cooler months and gardens in regions with lower-quality soil.

Insignificant white flowers appear through spring and summer, followed by small, ornamental red berries. 'Moon Bay' produces less berries than other Nandina domestica varieties, which can be beneficial, as berries can be toxic to wildlife.

Its dense, upright habit makes it ideal for low hedging, borders, mass plantings, or as a foliage feature in decorative pots. Hardy and low-maintenance, this versatile variety brings long-lasting, year-round interest to home gardens and landscapes.

Plant 'Moon Bay' in well-drained soil, with neutral or slightly acidic pH. Frost tolerant, and drought tolerant once established. Suited to coastal conditions. Apply slow-release fertiliser annually in spring, and prune in late winter/early spring to maintain desired height. 'Moon Bay' is a non-invasive variety, and will not spread aggressively.
